Zoe’s Toddler Room

18 Mar

So since Zoe has been getting more and more active and creative, I decided to update her room to make it more fun and toddler friendly.

My favorite addition to the space is the playhouse canopy from Land of Nod. Zoe is obsessed and it’s now our favorite spot to cozy up and read a good book.

Peekaboo!

You might notice I switched out the rug, FYI cotton rugs with kids are a nightmare to clean.
This one is a little on the rough side and it came a little damaged, so I ended up getting an incredible deal on it thanks to Overstocks amazing customer service. So I’m keeping it for now because I love the print. I plan to get a larger sheepskin to go over it instead of the two small ones since Zoe loves anything and everything soft and furry.

To free up some more space we moved the crib to the other side where the dresser/changing table used to be. And since we still weren’t ready to give up the changing pad we moved it to the ikea bookcase.

I also made a couple changes to the gallery wall. The owl print is by Kelli Murray, her work is amazing.

I’m still so in love with this glider, and of course the cuddles that come with it.

With Zoe’s book collection growing daily I needed a better storage solution. I’ve always loved the Ikea ledge book walls and now she has her very own!

I had so much fun rearranging and decorating her room and I’m so happy my little client loves it too!

starting fresh

21 Feb

I’m finally sitting down to blog, boy have I been busy!
This little munch keeps me on my toes, especially with her 45 minute naps! During that time I try to cram in a shower and some food, so hopefully you understand why the blog has been so quiet.

For the last month I’ve been slowly changing up things in the living room. I got really sick of the yellow and sold the ottoman and bought the CB2 Peekaboo acrylic coffee table. Once it arrived I was very underwhelmed, I just wasn’t feeling it for the space and I couldn’t help but picture little Zoe bonking into it in the future.

Anyway get ready for picture overload.

You might also notice I painted the sunburst mirror gold. Doesn’t it look so much better!? Everything looks better in gold (words I live by).

I had been lusting over this brass tray for a very long time, I don’t know why I waited so long to get it because I think its absolutely stunning.

I decided to go with a more neutral ottoman this time around, it gives me more room to play with colors.

I added grosgrain ribbon, such an easy DIY and so chic.

Zoe’s Nursery

17 Oct

Baby Zoe 0019

I’m so excited to share Zoe’s nursery with you, each time I walk into this space it makes me so happy.

Her nursery turned out exactly how I wanted it to. A space that was peaceful for a baby but could also be a space she could grow up in without having to completely redecorate.

And it of course had to have a lot of style so mommy could enjoy it as well!

The “For Like Ever” print is one of my favorites and seriously makes the room.

Don’t you think?

nursery inspiration boards

6 Mar

Hi All!

Today I’m 14 weeks, woo hoo!

26 more weeks to go, oh lord…

One of the many things I look forward to on this prego journey is finding out the sex of our little beeb.

I’m so impatient!

Especially since it’s holding me back from decorating the nursery.

So while waiting semi-patiently, I decided to create a couple of inspiration boards.

Baby Girl Nursery

Love the soft grays and white, with pops of gold, peach and pink.

Baby Boy

I’m loving these vintage airplanes and the simplicity of this room.

I’m crossing my fingers that in 2 weeks I’ll know which board I’m going with. Yay! Can’t wait!

unexpected find

24 Feb

Ok I have to share this with you guys.

I was browsing Pinterest on Wednesday and came across this gorgeous picture.

Can you believe she scored that sunburst mirror for $35!?

And from Home Depot, of all places. craziness.

Anyway, I rushed to Home Depot the same day and picked it up. I just had to have it for the babies room, and you know I can’t pass up a gorgeous sunburst mirror plus a good deal!

wood shim sunburst mirror

17 Oct

Here goes the start of another week, I hope you are enjoying your Monday.

Here’s a little treat for you.

I diy’ed another mirror, this time I used wood shims and glued them all together. It was definitely time consuming but I’m definitely happy with the end result.

what i used

192 – 8” wood shims (14 packs)

7” wood embroidery hoop

7” craft mirror

Leftover piece of Masonite board

hot glue gun

Rust-oleum Metallic Gold Spray Paint

gold spray paint

First I glued each grouping (rays), I used 8 shims for each one, but you can use however much you want to create the style you desire.

Once I had all my sections glued I simply glued them on a piece of Masonite board, spray painted them along with the 7” embroidery hoop and glued the mirror and hoop directly on top.

And here’s what I came up with:

Another great mirror for less than $30.

If you’ve been shopping for a sunburst mirror, I’d definitely recommend giving this a try. The possibilities are endless!

DIY Sunburst Mirror

26 Sep

One of the many reasons I love Pinterest is finding new DIY projects to tackle. Like this one from Centsational Girl.

Yes, I’m one of the many bloggers DIYing sunburst mirrors. I’m sorry but these are just too much fun to make and not to mention uber cheap.

My husband being a painter I thought it would be most fitting to use paint sticks. Plus I had the added bonus of getting the paint sticks for free. Oh the perks!

What I used:

16 – 5 gallon paint sticks
16 – 1 gallon paint sticks
7″ craft mirror
7″ wood embroidery hoop
11″ square piece of wood
Hot glue gun
Metallic Craft paint

I pretty much followed Centsational Girl’s directions, except doing it a little out of order cause that’s how I roll!

First I did a mock up, just laid it all out!

This is before I trimmed them all, but at least it gave me an idea on how many to paint.

Then I painted all my sticks and embroidery hoop (2 coats), I chose two gold metallic colors.

I spent a couple hours painting on Sunday and I have to say it was pretty relaxing.

The next day, the husband cut the sticks using a chop saw, unfortunately this part was a little out of my league.

I chose to vary the lengths at 9″ and 12″. We also ended up trimming the sides of the square too, because it seemed to show through when I did  my mock up.

Now that everything was painted and cut it was time to start the fun part.

I haven’t used a glue gun since I was probably 10 and wow am I hooked again. Glue guns are bad ass.

So with my trusty glue gun I glued the 7″ mirror to the square wood piece and then glued my embroidery hoop over the mirror.

Once that was set I just started gluing the paint sticks around the mirror. I have to admit there was a little cursing and grunts trying to get the sticks evenly spaced but after some help from the husband I was able to get into the groove of things.

So for less than $20.00 I got this gorgeous sunburst mirror. Can’t beat that!

For my first sunburst mirror I thought it came out pretty good. I’m loving the metallic paint against the wood grain.

So what do you think?

Have you made a sunburst mirror before or do you plan to?
