zoe’s chalkboard table

24 Feb

So I’ve been really bad about blogging…
but heres a little project I did over the weekend.

I picked up the Latt table and chairs from Ikea, seriously it’s $20… you can’t beat that.

Cute but pretty boring.

After seeing the idea on Pinterest I decided to turn it into a chalkboard table. Here’s what I used.

Rustoleum Chalkboard Spray Paint
Rustoleum Lacquer Spray paint in white
Martha Stewart Craft Paint in Gold
Triangle Stencil found at Michaels

I was originally going to use gold spray paint but I found the craft paint was easier to work with since I wouldn’t have to mask much. Love Martha Stewart gold! I could use this everywhere.

The possibilities are endless with this set, it’s so inexpensive that you can really make it completely custom for your little one.

BTW the table & chairs are majority bare wood so you’ll need to sand and prime.

Anyway, after about a week of working on it during nap times I ended up with this.

If I could dip everything in gold I think I would.

I’m pretty much obsessed with how it turned out.

the nook

8 Mar

So now that I’ve finished the living room (for now at least) I wanted to start tackling our breakfast nook. It had been previously taken over by the dogs but now that Zoe is eating solids we have really started to use the area again.

You can’t really tell from the photo but the table was way to big for the space, and now with the addition of a highchair it felt very crowded.

Old breakfast nook

So on to craigslist the table went and in came the new!

I had been wanting a vintage Saarinen table for a long time now, but damn are they expensive! So I decided to just bite the bullet (after much convincing to the husband) and buy the knock off version from Ikea.

I absolutely love it! You really can’t beat the price and it’s the perfect size for the space. Yay!

We also plan to install a built in corner bench, which will free up a lot more space.

So much pretty inspiration on pinterest.

Anyway I’m excited to see it all come together and this time I’ll try and keep you all in the loop!

Have a great weekend!

Pinterest DIY inspiration

12 Oct

Pinterest gives me more and more inspiration everyday. If only I had enough time in the day to tackle each of these projects.

Like this DIY chandelier, this would be perfect for under our pergola.

Along with this pallet day bed

I would also love to silver leaf a piece of furniture. Like this bedside table

Stenciling some curtains looks like so much fun. I definitely plan to do this soon.

I love succulents and the idea of making them into wall art just gets me giddy.

Next up on my project list is stenciling a rug for our bedroom. I’m a bit nervous about this as it’s not like stenciling a wall where you can paint over it. So we’ll see how this goes.

Oh! and look out for another goodie this week. I made another sunburst mirror because I’m obsessed. ya just a little.

Stencil Wall Complete!

28 Sep

Yep! We did it!

We conquerd the kitchen with an amazing stencil by Royal Design Studios called Casablanca Trellis.

The whole process took us about 4 hours, thank god I had the husband there to help me, because I don’t think I could have done this alone. I envy all those who can!

Here’s how our little Saturday of painting went down

Many hours later we went from this…

to this!!!

And remember the sunburst mirror I DIY’ed, well I found the perfect place for it.

Don’t you think it compliments the wall perfectly?!

We chose a white satin paint, it’s actually the same color we painted all our interior trim. I love the sheen against the eggshell wall.

Hope you like it! I’m pretty much obsessed.

I’d love to see any walls you’ve stenciled. Were you pulling out your hair or were you loving every minute like us?

Update on Stencil Wall

23 Sep

Happy Friday!

Well unfortunately after much discussion the stenciling of the hallway is not going to happen and I did try!

But with the gorgeous plaster my husband slaved over and not to mention the uneven walls and 4 doorways it sadly was not in it’s future.

The good news is the kitchen nook has been chosen instead!

This space as always seemed plain to me, so I’m really looking forward to vamping it up.

Oh and here’s a picture of the stencil I chose

It’s called Casablanca Trellis by Royal Design Studios

Wish me (us) luck!

Stencil Wall Approved!

16 Sep

Happy Friday!!

I’m very excited about this post and even more excited to get started on this project.

Last night I slowly asked Ryan if I could stencil the hallway, concerned he would firmly say NO, considering the plaster he did on the walls took some time and labor. To my surprise he said Sure, I was of course screaming with joy inside.

I’ve always wanted to stencil a wall and planned to get started in the nursery once the babe was on his/her way.

Well since that hasn’t happened yet, I thought the hallway would be the perfect space to start up some practice.

Here’s what the hallway looks like now, in case you forgot.

It’s actually really small so I’m hoping this will be a good gradient for me. The only hard part might be the four doorways and wall heater, yeah didn’t think about those.

My first thought on the design was this gorgeous number at Beach Bungalow 8

Love me some imperial trellis. But sadly after much research online, it looked as though I’d be pulling my hair out as opposed to jumping for joy while doing this pattern. BTW the above is actually wallpaper, and it’s $200 a roll! so I only wish.

Here are some other patterns I like

This one came out so good! by Vintage Revivals, love the paint colors she chose as well.

This one came out super pretty too over at IHeart Organizing

Anyway…looks like I have some decision making to do. I definitely know I want the colors to be white and dark gray, so at least that steps done.
