Overstock & Foo Dogs

16 Dec

I got a couple more pieces for the bookcase.

Like these amazing filigree urns from Overstock

love them!

love the price even more, compared to this similar one found at Z Gallerie

I mean yaaaa they aren’t porcelain but who really cares, and no one will ever know when they’re placed so high up. Well except for you guys…shhh!

Also got these adorable foo dogs for $48 on eBay

I’m loving the pop of color they bring.

Have a great weekend!

Yep! That’s right! We finished the bookcase, you know the one I scored for $60 off craigslist.

it was pretty ugly but I saw past that and really liked the “parsons” feel it was giving off. It’s also extremely sturdy and quite heavy, which is great because I can’t stand flimsy particle board furniture.

So with a little paint love from the husband and a little decorating from me, I’m now pretty much obsessed with this baby.

I love that I finally have a place to display some of my books and knick knacks. I picked up this white frame from Home Goods recently and I filled my ikat bowl from Anthropologie with seashells we collected in Costa Rica on our honeymoon.

Drink time!

I picked up this decanter for my husband for all his hard work, he loves a good glass of scotch once in awhile.

IMG_8699

and of course you can’t have a manly drink of scotch without a sparkly gold glass to hold it in.

Adore.

You might remember from the previous post that I had planned to add a dark gray back and possibly some O’verlays to the sides. But for now I’m actually really loving the airiness of it, I like that you can view the pieces from any angle. Oh and if you’re wondering what color we painted it, because you know white can be pretty tricky. We decided to go with our trim color that we used throughout the house, which is an old formula called C2 L2 by Benjamin Moore. I love this white.

Finally I have a place to display our wedding album and even my wedding shoes. I also ordered an acrylic display box to showcase them even more.

the view from our hallway mirror. love.

I just love this mercury glass decanter, another great piece I picked up at Home Goods.

IMG_8716

I still plan to add some artwork to the top of it, as well as some bright turquoise foo dogs for a pop of color.

Hope you guys love it as much as I do. I’m really so happy about the end result, not to mention the price. Gotta love Craigslist!

Antique Faire fun

5 Dec

Hey peeps! Hope you all had a fab weekend.

Yesterday my bestie Melissa and I hit up the Alameda Point Antiques Faire

AlamedaPointAntiquesFaire_W-018_fs

Love this place! This is my third time going and It’s so much fun, if you are interested it’s every first Sunday of the month. Bring lots of cash and wear comfortable shoes, because it’s exhausting but there are so many awesome finds.

I was on the lookout for a antique bar cart, brass bamboo tray, antlers, and any other yummy finds.

My bestie scored big! She found an awesome chandelier, vintage metal basket, a gorgeous trellis pillow and black antique chair.

I on the other hand am a bit picky on where I spend my money. As much as I love everything and would buy everything at the faire. I have to be realistic on what would work in the amount of space we have in our little home.

But I am very happy with my little finds, like these awesome antlers

and these cute little gold striped glasses

Pretty excited to display these sparkling beauties on the new bookcase.

I also have big plans for the antlers which involve a little can of spray paint.

So has anyone else hit up the Faire lately? Find any goodies?

Shopping & Painting

22 Nov

Hope you all had a good weekend!

The Husband and I spent Saturday shopping for our Etsy shop and priming the bookcase, followed by a little babysitting with our cute nieces.

photo(1)

We love shopping for our shop, it’s one of the many reasons we started it. We loved finding treasures and making them available to other peeps.

Unfortunately since our store is online only, we are very limited to the size of the item. So for fun I took pictures of all the big items I wished I could buy.

Loved this blue door, wouldn’t it look lovely leaning in a garden setting.

Amazing X coffee tables!

These red beauties would make perfect bedside tables.

photo 3

We were so close to buying this table for our backyard…why can’t it be spring already! It was so lovely and rustic but with a beautiful modern design.

And here was my all time favorite! Isn’t this table to die for!

I think it’s time I open up my own store…one day…one day.

Before we went shopping we stopped off at the husbands shop to prime the bookcase I scored off craigslist. Ryan recommended priming it in oil base because it had kind of a funky finish on it. Loving his outfit! haha

photo 3

With just primer it already looked a whole lot better!

So that’s how our little weekend went.

Did anyone else tackle any home projects this weekend?

the bookcase project

11 Nov

So I finally found a bookcase.

As much as I wanted the one from Home Decorators, I just wasn’t going to be ok with spending over $400.

So I was pretty happy when I found this baby for $60 off craigslist.

It’s pretty butt ugly right now so I’m super excited to transform it.

I have so many great ideas for it.

1. Paint it a bright white. yummy.

2. Add a back and paint it a dark gray or yellow.

dark back

I’m pretty much obsessed with the contrast in the picture above.

painted back

3. Possibly add some detail to the sides. Like these fretwork panels from O’verlays

Stayed tuned on this one, I’ll be sure to update you guys on the progress.

bookshelf lust

24 Oct

Hi Peeps!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I’ve been lusting over this bookshelf and have been thinking about it all weekend. I must have it.

Right now we have zero shelf space in our living room, so I have no area to display my books and décor pieces.

So like I said…I must have this.

time to convince Ryan.

You can’t really beat the $399 price tag over at Home Decorators.
