starting fresh

21 Feb

I’m finally sitting down to blog, boy have I been busy!
This little munch keeps me on my toes, especially with her 45 minute naps! During that time I try to cram in a shower and some food, so hopefully you understand why the blog has been so quiet.

For the last month I’ve been slowly changing up things in the living room. I got really sick of the yellow and sold the ottoman and bought the CB2 Peekaboo acrylic coffee table. Once it arrived I was very underwhelmed, I just wasn’t feeling it for the space and I couldn’t help but picture little Zoe bonking into it in the future.

Anyway get ready for picture overload.

obsessed with my new pillows, the striped is from etsy and the coral fretwork and navy deco are from Caitlin Wilson Textiles

You might also notice I painted the sunburst mirror gold. Doesn’t it look so much better!? Everything looks better in gold (words I live by).

I need to have more fresh flowers in my life.

I had been lusting over this brass tray for a very long time, I don’t know why I waited so long to get it because I think its absolutely stunning.

I decided to go with a more neutral ottoman this time around, it gives me more room to play with colors.

While at ikea I picked up some Ritva drapes, I love these drapes! Not only are they a great price but I love how the light shines through so beautifully.

I added grosgrain ribbon, such an easy DIY and so chic.

PS
my house is never this neat and tidy with ZERO baby toys. I had just gotten the rug and sofa cleaned so it was the perfect opportunity to take some lovely photos for you all. Just thought I’d let you know ; )

zebra love

28 Dec

I’m not one to be all over animal prints. Not sure why, just have never been drawn to them. But when I saw these amazing throw pillows at Zgallerie, I just had to have them.

Unfortunately they only came in a 24” and I needed them smaller, so I went off on a web search rampage and found these exact same ones on Etsy from Pop O’ Color

IMG_8943

I’m fully obsessed, not only are they so well made, the fabric is absolutely gorgeous.

IMG_8944

Oh and here’s an update on the sofa pillows, I went with three 26” and the two zebra 20” and now just want to get lumbar pillow to tie it all together.

It’s beyond comfortable and I’ve had no complaints from the husband which is a major plus!

Be sure to check out Pop O’ Color if you’re looking for some great designer pillow covers. She literally has over 200 items in her shop right now and also does custom orders!

throw pillow options

9 Nov

Look what I got in the mail today…

IMG_8390

I really wasn’t lying when I said I wanted to redo all my throw pillows in this new gorgeous fabric line by Caitlin Wilson. The hard part is deciding on which pattern.

IMG_8399

IMG_8403

I’m just obsessed with each and every one of these! Ahhh

IMG_8406

Here are the two combinations I’ve narrowed it down to.

IMG_8428

I could stick with my current color scheme of light blue, yellow and gray, Which I still love but I think I might be ready for a change. And if I’m going to purchase all new pillows, I might as well change it up, right?

and now for some ghetto “photoshopping”

yellow combo

IMG_8431

I was really drawn to the navy in this fleur chinoise fabric and there is something so lovely about the pops of pink.

But will the husband really let me bring pink into the mix. This might be a little tricky. He’s already told me he feels like he’s living in my house as opposed to our house. poor guy. I tell him do you want to know what your house would look like if you decorated it. Then he gets it.

So now that you’ve seen my options, which one is your fave?

sofa switch up

7 Nov

What up peeps!

Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was pretty relaxing, we had planned to build the bookcase but the weather just wasn’t on our side.

So I had a little fun switching up the sofa.

After many nights of complaining and groans from the husband of the back cushions being uncomfortable, I thought hey why don’t I just remove them and replace with a bunch of throw pillows.

Like this one I saw on Young House Love House Crashing

the situation a couple months ago.

now. minus the throw pillows

bye bye cushions

obviously I’m not going to leave it like this. But I just wanted to get an idea, so I ran around the house like a crazy person grabbing all the throw pillows I could find.

It was actually surprisingly comfortable and I’m kind of loving the relaxed look it gives off. The bonus was right when the husband sat down he was in complete heaven. brownie points for me!

The nice thing is I can always switch back to the standard cushions if I get sick of it, which will most likely happen in 6 months.

IMG_8483

On Sunday I ran over to PB to grab some larger pillows to get a better feel of the layout. Here it is with four 26” and two 16×26” pillows. Much better on the scale, but I want to try one more option of two 26”, two 24” and one 16×26”.

Also, I had to return the down pillows from PB because they were just too thin. Does anyone know where I can find overstuffed down pillow inserts? I really would like to find some that keep there shape as much as possible.

Anyway enough pillow talk.

Have you thought about removing your back cushions to give your sofa a new look? Did you love or hate it?

Fabric Love

25 Oct

The wait is finally over. Well at least it is for me.

I love Caitlin Wilson’s blog, her style is unreal.

She finally launched her fabric line, CWD Textiles and it is to die for.

I’ve already planned to redo all my throw pillows in her new gorgeous fabric.

And the best part is, her pillow covers are super reasonable priced.

Gotta love that.
